1. Accepting these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and TechTalkByte ("we", "us") about your use of the ePandit mobile app ("the app"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. The app
ePandit is a free, ad-supported app with information about Hindu festivals, panchang elements, aartis and related traditions. It needs no account. Its content is bundled in the app and works offline; ads, usage statistics and source links need an internet connection.
3. Religious and cultural content
- Festival stories, rituals, panchang details and aartis are provided for general information, learning and personal devotion. They are not religious rulings, astrological predictions, or medical, legal, financial or other professional advice.
- Dates and panchang elements follow one national (Purnimanta) calendar and are curated, not calculated for your exact location. Regional calendars, local sunrise and family traditions differ, so a date or tithi may differ where you live. For ceremonies and important decisions, confirm with a qualified priest or your local panchang.
- We cite our sources and correct mistakes when told about them, but we cannot guarantee that every detail is complete or matches every tradition.
- Content is presented with respect for all traditions. If something seems wrong or hurtful, please tell us.
4. Your licence to use the app
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. You agree not to:
- copy, sell, republish or redistribute the app or its compiled content (such as our translations, story text, illustrations or database) except as the law allows;
- reverse engineer, decompile or modify the app, except where the law permits it despite this restriction;
- interfere with the app's ads, for example by clicking ads you are not interested in or using tools to generate fake activity;
- use the app in any unlawful way.
5. Ownership and intellectual property
The app's design, code, illustrations, English and Hindi writing, translations and compiled content are owned by TechTalkByte. Traditional aarti and scripture texts are part of a shared devotional heritage; our presentation and translations of them are ours. Third-party works (cited sources, fonts, music and open-source software) belong to their owners and are used under their licences; see Sources & credits. "ePandit" and its logo are our marks.
6. Ads and third-party services
The app shows ads from Google AdMob and uses Google Analytics for Firebase, as described in the privacy policy. These services are provided by Google under Google's own terms. We are not responsible for the content of ads or for products advertised in them.
7. External links
Source links open third-party websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices.
8. Updates and availability
We may update, change or stop offering the app or any feature at any time. Some updates may be needed to keep using the app. We aim to keep the app available but do not promise that it will always work without interruption or errors.
9. No warranty
To the extent the law allows, the app and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, TechTalkByte is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from reliance on a date, ritual or other content in the app. Because the app is free, our total liability to you for any claim related to it is limited to INR 1,000. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. App Store and Google Play
If you downloaded the app from Apple's App Store: these terms are between you and TechTalkByte only, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (which is zero); to the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. TechTalkByte, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims about the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection claims, and for investigating and defending any claim that the app infringes a third party's intellectual property. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or listed on a U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must also follow any applicable third-party terms when using the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Apple's Standard End User License Agreement also applies, and where it conflicts with these terms, it governs your use on Apple devices.
If you downloaded the app from Google Play: the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to your download and use.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in India have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any rights you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page; important changes will be noted in the app's update notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
