In short: ePandit has no sign-up, its content works offline, and your settings stay on your phone. Two kinds of data leave your device: anonymous usage statistics through Google Analytics for Firebase, which you can turn off in Settings, and what Google AdMob uses to show ads.

1. Information we collect

ePandit ("the app") is made by TechTalkByte ("we"). The app has no sign-up, and we run no servers of our own that receive data from it. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or precise location. The app uses two Google services, described in sections 3 and 4: anonymous usage analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) and advertising (Google AdMob).

2. Data stored only on your device

To remember your choices, the app saves the following on your phone. It is never sent to us:

The background music is a sound file inside the app, played on your device. The app does not use your microphone.

3. Usage analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)

To learn which parts of the app are useful, ePandit uses Google Analytics for Firebase. It records which screens are opened (for example "Calendar" or "Festival detail", never which festival or aarti you read, and nothing you type), app opens, sessions and time spent, app installs and updates, and, on Android, ad impressions and clicks. With these it records basic device and app information (device model, operating system and version, app version, language) and a coarse location (country or region) that Google derives from your IP address. This data is tied to a random identifier created for this installation of the app, not to your name, account or identity.

4. Advertising (Google AdMob)

ePandit shows banner ads served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect and process information such as your device's advertising ID, device and app information, your IP address (which can indicate approximate location), and how you interact with ads. Google handles this under its own policies:

Android: reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, under Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads on some devices).

iPhone and iPad (App Tracking Transparency): the app asks your permission before ads may use your device's advertising identifier, and the ads SDK starts only after you answer. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", ads are still shown, without that identifier. Change this any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

5. Permissions

The app uses internet access (to load ads, send anonymous usage statistics and open source links you tap) and audio playback for the background music. On Android it uses the advertising-ID permission that AdMob needs; on iPhone and iPad it asks for tracking permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. It does not access your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files.

Festival pages cite sources such as encyclopaedias and panchang references. Tapping a source opens that website, which has its own privacy policy.

7. Retention and deletion

Data stored on your device stays there until you delete it, by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage. Google keeps Analytics event data for the retention period set in our Analytics account (2 months), after which it is deleted automatically; AdMob data is kept under Google's policies. Because we never receive your name or any account, we cannot link Analytics data to you personally. See Your data & deletion for step-by-step instructions.

8. Your choices and rights

You can switch off analytics in Settings, limit ad tracking in your phone's settings, and delete all app data at any time. Depending on where you live (for example under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, or the EU/UK GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. To exercise them, or to raise a concern, email us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.

9. Children

ePandit is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. This website

If this policy changes, for example if a future version adds sign-in or sync, we will update this page and its date before that version is released.
